Winter Blast – Exciting events for all ages
Winter Blast, a “Pre-Game before the Big Game” celebration comes to Secaucus, New Jersey from Thursday, January 30th through Saturday, February 1st. This three-day action-packed event takes place at Buchmuller Park, just three miles from MetLife Stadium, site of Super Bowl XLVIII and eleven driving miles from your Fort Lee apartment at The Modern.
Sponsors for the event are North Jersey Media Group, the Town of Secaucus, Goya Foods, Houlihans, Coca-Cola, Hartz Mountain, XChange, Heineken, Anheuser-Busch and NY Waterways.
Hartz Mountain is presenting the musical entertainment during Winter Blast – Craft Band appears Thursday night, Friday will be a night of giveaways and fun provided by NASH radio hosting a country-music themed night, and New York’s 92.3 NOW street team promises even more give-aways, more prizes and more fun on Saturday.
First Avenue and Wilson Street will be closed to traffic for the three days of the event to accommodate the thirty award-winning food trucks taking part in the Food Truck Mash-Up, (participating vendors are listed on www.northjersey.com/ winterblast) and the event’s Beer Garden. Hosted by Charlie’s Corner Bar, the Beer Garden will feature brews from Brooklyn Brewery, Heineken and Bud Light.
New Jersey Devils alumni players Bruce Driver, Grant Marshall and Ken Daneyko will appear at a ‘meet and greet’ session on Friday, January 31st beginning at 5:30pm.
The ice rink will be open for public skating, with the exception of when a few special events scheduled during the Winter Blast are being showcased.
Other Winter Blast attractions include • Sports Authority’s 40-yard dash competition with prizes for the winners • have your picture taken inside a life-size snow globe • Spectrum Works students and employees with Autism are teaming up with Toscana Cheese Co. to create the largest Mozzarella ‘Football’, with the hope of setting a new Guinness World Record • watch as the graffiti artist, Get Lost A Lot, works his magic • dance and sing with Viibe and Lori Michaels • work on your football skills with the Secaucus Patriots football team • cheer along with the Secaucus cheerleaders and marching band • and much more.
Tickets are available at www.northjersey.com/winterblast Online tickets are $10 per person per day, a family four-pack is $30 and an adult three-day pass is $18. There is no charge for children under 10 years of age. Door admission is $15 per person, per day, and a family four-pack is $40. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the local Secaucus 501c3. Free shuttle buses, courtesy of NY Waterways, will run from the Lautenberg Rail Station (Secaucus Junction), off-site shuttle parking locations and local area hotels to the park.
The event takes place rain, snow or shine.
