Making A Difference – Celebrating Nineteen Years of Uncommon Recognition for Uncommon Acts

rb-logo“There is no greater importance in life than knowing you’ve helped a fellow human being.”

Russ Berrie

The late Russell Berrie, an Englewood resident, was a well known figure in the toy industry.  A successful businessman, he was also well known as a friend to the State of New Jersey through his generous contributions to advance health care and of his unwavering support for religious and cultural affairs. In 1996, he established an award, Making a Difference, to honor the unsung heroes of New Jersey for acts of outstanding heroism and community service.

Do you know an individual you feel has made a significant contribution to the well being of the Fort Lee community? Ramapo College is currently accepting nominations through February 13th – in search of ten deserving individuals to bestow the 2015 Russ Berrie Award for Making A Difference. Finalists will be recognized at a ceremony to be held this coming spring, celebrating nineteen years of uncommon recognition for uncommon acts and rewarded with monetary gifts of up to $50,000 and eight runner-up grants of $5,000 each.

This is the perfect opportunity to repay someone for an extreme act of kindness they did for you . . . a neighbor at The Modern, a co-worker, a stranger  . . . or acknowledge the actions of someone you’ve never met, but know of their efforts for a neighborhood cause.
